If the bailout is such a good idea, why don't the democrats push it through?

They have the majority, they don't need any republican support to get it ped. Are they doing this so they won't have to take the heat if it goes south? Are the democrats, supposedly the party for the people, playing politics with our economy? I thought they claimed they were above the partisan politics crap. Are they not just as bad if not worse than the republicans?
