Black ladies on here, were your parents really strick about your hair?
My family was, especially my dad and grandmother (on my dad's side and biological mother's side). My mom lives in Georgia, so I live with my dad and stepmother. When I was little, my real hair was past my shoulders, but not past my elbows, until I was a out 10 and my mom put a perm in there and it all broke off when we were in Georgia. My dad was REALLY mad. I was too young for a perm back then, but anyways, my parents are STRICT when it comes to my hair. Whenever I wanted to swimming, they would tell be to not get my hair wet, even with braids and tell me to wear a swimming cap. I HATE those! They say, "No swimming cap on, NO swimming." At a cl trip, my dad forced me to wear a swimming cap. When I hate it on, the kids started laughing at me and called me names. My dad and stepmom NEVER let me go swimming, unless I have a cap on. It's so unfair! All the other girls didn't have to wear one! I barley see a black woman in the pool! I'm 21 and my parents STILL make me wear a cap! My hair breaks off easly. What's y'all oppinion?
